The Full Story

Peoples Barbershop has been a family legacy since it was opened by the Heather Smith's grandfather, just three doors down from what is now The Barber’s Daughter and Company Salon & Day Spa. Today, the barbershop is owned and operated by the Heather's father, who has continued its long-standing tradition of community and service.

The family later purchased Unseen Hands—now The Barber’s Daughter—through a series of events they attribute entirely to faith and timing. After nearly two decades working at LeGrande Salon & Day Spa in Hickory, Heather felt called to be closer to home and her children. During a routine massage appointment, a conversation between her father and the former owner, Karen, revealed that the spa was quietly for sale. Karen, also faith-driven, had been praying for the right buyers and hadn’t even placed a sign out front.

Having previously wondered if the business might ever come up for sale, the family immediately expressed interest. What followed was a smooth, timely transition they describe as nothing short of a blessing.

Now, both Peoples Barbershop and The Barber’s Daughter operate side-by-side with shared values, deep faith, and a passion for serving their community. The family is honored to carry forward this work and excited for all that lies ahead.
